West Hartford 11/3/2005 - Elmwood Kitchen, LLC a new meals-to-go home delivery business, is now offering meals to Hartford, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Newington, Rocky Hill, Bloomfield, New Britain and Windsor seniors that appeal to their palate, not just to their health. “We are unique in that we provide all of the conveniences of a senior meal delivery service but have “raised the bar” with respect to taste, says Elmwood Kitchen Manager, Patrice Freeman. “Seniors are more apt to take advantage of a program like this when they know that they can look forward to freshly prepared lunch and dinners that are flavorful and appealing”.
Clients of Elmwood Kitchen can also be assured of good nutrition. Owner/Chef Zhanna Brel says that each dinner features a traditional American entrée such as grilled chicken or baked pork chops. Dinner always includes healthy steamed vegetables that “people tend not to cook for themselves”. All meals are low-fat and low-salt and a special menu is available for diabetics or people with restricted diets.
A senior can sign up for daily deliveries on an ongoing basis or for just a few meals when they are recuperating from an illness. The price of a daily lunch/dinner delivery is $10, dinner only $7.75. Many clients are able to obtain this service at no cost through the Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders. “I think that we are offering an option in West Hartford that will be greatly appreciated by families that are concerned about the well being of a loved one. It is nice to see Seniors enjoying healthy food while at the same time getting a well deserved break from cooking and shopping,” says Zhanna Brel.
